Even after years of healthy eating and living habits and all kinds of self-help practices people can still feel very stuck. It’s like they reached a wall. And even after working with potent plant medicines ceremonies. It seems that learning to feel more does not always make people feel better, which is a reason people often continue to choose not to feel more. Ultimately feeling more encourages to adjust our lifestyles so we feel better but the path can be complex and uncomfortable and there are hidden blocks in the way.
It’s solution thinking and focusing on desirable outcomes that make us feel better and gets us somewhere, Negative thinking serves no purpose except to make ourselves and the people around us miserable. Yes we can still slip into it It seems that negative thinking is addictive. And knowing that it is an addiction makes you no more able to stop than been addicted to it then it would a chemical substance. In fact, it seems like chemical substances are in some involved, they are the bodies own chemicals and intervention of some kind is needed. And this is where the miracle of iboga comes in.
Over the years I had got to hear many reports of people who have experienced personal transformation through the therapeutic use of the iboga plant. The iboga root has been used for as long as anyone can remember in Central Western Africa in the areas of Gabon and Cameroon, where it grows. It is used for healing and initiatory purposes. The main active ingredient in iboga is called ibogaine although a complex combination of chemistry is involved when the whole root is used. In the early sixties it was discovered by accident that it has addiction interrupting properties and could break an addiction to powerful substances even such as heroin and cocaine. Also it breaks the alcohol dependence cycle and interrupts many other addictions. What’s more it seems to address the underlying issues and traumas, hence it is described as twenty years of psychotherapy in one night. Afterwards many people report that it is very difficult to think a negative thought. The connection between the addiction interruption and the cessation of negative thinking struck me. The molecules of emotion in our bodies, the peptides can be addictive. When people have been traumatised or habitually think negative or fearful thoughts they get into an addictive cycle with our own peptides. The emotions and the conditions that cause them can even be passed from generation to generation creating what we call ancestral trauma. No one might even remember why a whole nation, tribe or family are a certain way but it can be caused by events that happened a long time ago. This is connected to what Wilhelm Reich called the Emotional Plague. Iboga or ibogaine can interrupt the addictive cycle of drugs. It can also interrupt the addictive cycle of the chemicals of emotion. To break the addictive cycle of chemical drugs a so-called ‘flood dose’ must be given. It needs to be accurately weighed so it is enough to break the chemical cycle and not too much to be dangerous. African healers experienced with iboga have their own ways of conducting iboga ceremonies. For the purposes of modern medics dealing with addiction, ibogaine is extracted from the iboga root so an exact amount can be weighed based on the patient’s body weight. For therapeutic use for purely emotional issues, micro-dosing can be very powerful and the whole root, ground up can be used. Several countries have either banned iboga or restricted its distribution. as it has been lumped into the general drugs category which is ironic as it heals drug addition. There are still plenty of countries where it is completely legal though and treatment can be sought.
Many people have benefited from this process. People typically take 0.25 g to 0.4g a day depending on their sensitivity. For some a month of micro-dosing is enough, for others, they go on for several months. It seems to reset people from lives of what is essentially cycles of repeated trauma, even ancestral trauma to live the lives they truly are here for, their purpose. Sometimes we simply are not the people we thought we were. Of course, even after dealing with trauma chemicals we still have the left brain right brain split and all that entails but this kind of therapy takes us to a point where we can engage with whatever we need to do deal with that issue. It’s not uncommon for people to live moss of their lives going around what is basically recycled trauma. This is an opportunity to step out of it and have the deep fulfilment of living our true purpose, our destiny which is a gift, within the greater story of humanity..People report feeling more comfortable in themselves afterwards. Another application that is being researched at the time of writing is the use of iboga or ibogaine in the treatment of Parkinson’s It seems so far that it alleviates the symptoms and rebuilds neural tissue.
With the way cleared we can move forward to the next part of the story.
