Hello again, it’s been a while since we sent out a newsletter; we have been doing some reorganising for the future. We have upgraded the Food for Consciousness site to, what we think is, a much prettier and easy to use version. We have also been redefining our roles and we have new members of the team. Kenny is now focusing on his fabulous range of fermented foods anddrinks which Food for Consciousness will continue to sell. Sonja is our new super efficient order processor, Jasmine is working on new artwork for our products, Jane is sourcing specialist products and I am looking after the website, researching and writing.
As some of you may know this business is one of the loves of my life. Behind all the products is a clear and practical philosophy of how we can all get into a better space. From now on we will be sending out regular newsletters, not only about products but also on topics of interest related to health, wellbeing and human potential. For the last two months I have been in Mexico. I have been investigating ibogaine treatment in Northern Mexico and sourcing some wonderful products in Southern Mexico, also leaning much from the way of life here, which is very much rooted in indigenous culture. I will be reporting more on all this in future newsletters. In particular I have sourced two outstanding varieties of fair trade high altitude coffee which i will soon be bringing back for shop stock. More in the next newsletter.
In this newsletter I am giving a big mention to our range of CBD rich hemp products. Not only they are rich in CBD but also the other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. there is increasing publicity about the benefits and healing powers of these compounds, we encourage you to research online about their use with specific conditions. The hemp from which these products are made is grown in Devon.
This is me in one of the hemp fields in Devon last summer,. I wrote a piece explaining the general background, the connection between the human body and the hemp plant.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. In fact cannabidiol belongs to a whole category of over 80 compounds called cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa or hemp plant. Cannabis and hemp are different words for the same species. Hemp is an old English name for name for varieties with low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) so it doesn’t get you stoned in the same way as smoking cannabis. Furthermore it is legal.
How are cannabinoids said to heal?
CBD has become well known in recent times for the remarkable healing properties it is reputed to have. Cannabinoids are very similar to a group of chemicals in the human body which regulate the way the body runs and remains healthy. For historical reasons these endogenous (originating within) compounds have been named endocannabinoids. The reason is that they were studied in the cannabis plant before they were identified in the human body. Cannabinoids from the hemp plant latch onto the same receptors sites as the endocannabinoids produced in the human body, so create a similar effect and help regulate the bodily systems in a very beneficial way.
We continue our growing range of mood lifting and regenerative foods and herbs, supplements and more.

Please note, we were unable to transfer customer accounts to the new website software, so you will need to set up another account, if you have not done so already. After that, everything should go smoothly and we welcome your feedback and comments.
